Biography
Mr. Sussman was the Sculpture Technician at Skowhegan, Skowhegan, ME, 1976; past Director of the Sculpture Center, New York, NY, 1979-1989; Dean of Skowhegan, 1977, 1982, 1983; Adjunct Lecturer of Sculpture, City College of NY, NY 1982-1984; Advisor for the International School of Art, Umbria, Italy, 1993; past Founding Director of the Art Students League Vytlacil Residency Campus in Rockland County, New York, 2004-2014; and Instructor of Sculpture, Drawing, Art Students League of New York, NY, 1996-2014. Mr. Sussman was elected as a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society, since 1992 through the present.
Mr. Sussman studied at the John Herron Art School; The Art Students League; the École des Beaux-Art, Paris, France, and the Academy in Florence, Italy. In 1973, he was awarded an Edward G. McDowell Travel Grant. Upon his return, he became apprentice to Jose de Creeft, 1971-1976 and in 1979 became the Director of the Sculpture Center in New York until 1989.
